Rules and Regulations for Working at JSUT (Tentative)

 

In order to strengthen the supervision of foreign experts/teachers working at Jiangsu University of Technology (hereinafter called JSUT), and let the foreign experts/teachers have a full play in the role of teaching and research so as to increase their working effectiveness, in accordance with China’s relevant policies and in light of the actual situation at JSUT, the International Cooperation and Exchange Office (ICEO) stipulates the following rules and regulations.

 

I. During the stay at JSUT, the foreign experts/teachers should consciously abide by China's political and social policy, Chinese laws and regulations, respect the Chinese people's moral standards and customs, and not interfere in China's internal affairs.

 

II. China implements the policy of religious freedom, and JSUT respects foreign experts/teachers’ personal and national customs and religious beliefs; nevertheless, all the foreign experts/teachers are forbidden to carry out religious missionary work in China and engage in activities incompatible with their positions. Without the approval of the relevant departments of the Chinese government, the foreign experts/teachers shall not set up an inter-school or trans-regional organizations.

 

III. JSUT allows the foreign experts/teachers to celebrate their festivals and organize activities at the university designated locations, etc. on the premise of ensuring compliance with relevant rules and regulations, but the foreign experts/teachers must obtain the approval of the university beforehand. No anti-China contents in any such activities, or religious propaganda, obscenity or attack of a third country are not allowed. Once found, JSUT will immediately cease the activities and the organizers should take the corresponding responsibility.

 

IV. The foreign experts/teachers shall obtain the permission of JSUT before posting printings such as notice, advertising, and distribution of publicity materials, which are to be put up on display at the designated locations. It is subject to approval of the government to publish external publications.

 

V. The foreign experts/teachers shall consciously accept the supervision of both the university and the school or institute, complete the tasks assigned to in accordance with the school or institute teaching plan, ensure the work efficiency and quality, and accept the guidance, inspection and assessment of JSUT. During the employment, without the consent of JSUT, all the foreign experts/teachers should not do any other services unrelated.

 

VI. The foreign experts/teachers have the duty to guarantee the normal school or institute teaching work order and discipline, punctual classroom teaching and no early dismissal. Without the school or institute’s consent, the foreign experts/teachers are not allowed to transfer or cancel classes. Under the special condition that the foreign experts/teachers cannot give classes, they have to ask the school or institute for leave in advance to avoid the disorder of normal teaching work.

 

VII. The foreign experts/teachers shall pay attention to their behavior in class. Do not give any speech before Chinese students containing the content of being against, attacking or harming other countries or the feelings of the peoples of other countries. The use of reference materials (such as audio-video products, etc.) prepared by the foreign experts/teachers themselves should be agreed by the school or institute in advance.

 

VIII. The foreign experts/teachers should protect the equipments that JSUT provides, and keep in mind water and energy conservation and fire prevention all the time, and operate correctly all the equipments upon instruction manual. Any economic losses occurred due to any human-induced incidents as a result of misoperation will be borne by the operator. All foreign experts/teachers should well keep the keys to their own apartments and be sure to return the keys to ICEO before they leave JSUT. All the furniture and equipment in the apartment should be left at their places and electric appliances unplugged when the foreign experts/teachers leave JSUT.

 

IX. It’s prohibited to keep pets on campus.

 

X. The foreign experts/teachers shall go to the university hospital or designated local hospital for public health services, with the costs to be borne by JUST or covered by the purchased health insurance, excluding expenses and costs of teeth care, prophylaxis, cosmetic, massage, glasses, hospital meals, taking nourishing medicine and chronic illness medicine. According to the medical diagnosis, if any foreign expert/teacher asks for sick leave for over 30 days and still can not resume normal work after that period of leave, his or her job contract will be terminated, and he or she should return to his or her home country for further medical treatment upon the relevant state regulations,. In the contract period, the foreign experts/teachers should cover by themselves the expenses of the medical treatment in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and abroad.

 

XI. The foreign experts/teachers enjoy the following Chinese festivals: New Year's Day, Spring Festival, International Labor Day and National Day and other statutory holiday; in addition, the foreign experts/teachers may also enjoy Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays if applicable. The foreign experts/teachers shall abide by the regulations of the Chinese government and adjust their work for special holidays such as International Labor Day and National Day holidays under the instruction of JUST; in case of adjusting work hours and necessity of working at weekends, the foreign experts/teachers should not refuse to work.

 

XII. In case of leaving JSUT for a long time, the foreign experts/teachers shall get the permission first from the school or institute where they are teaching and the confirmation by the school or institute that their leave will not affect the normal teaching work of the school or institute, and then obtain the approval of ICEO. When applying to ICEO for the approval, the foreign experts/teachers should state clearly the time, place and reason of leave.

 

XIII. When they have visitors and need to accommodate the visitors in their apartments, the foreign experts/teachers should inform ICEO in advance for registration.
